Scotland’s ACEs Journey Booklet

£12.00

The year 2025 is a significant one for Scotland.  It marks 20 years since the country first set out on its journey to engage with the science of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs).  That began in 2005, with the Scottish Violence Reduction Unit, with the two decades that have passed since then witnessing an expansion of awareness across a surprisingly broad range of sectors.

This booklet tells the story of that journey.

We offer the printed version of the booklet for sale in sets of two. We hope that anyone who wants to order a copy of the booklet will want another copy to give away to friends and colleagues.

Description

The year 2025 is a significant one for Scotland. It marks 20 years since the country first set out on its journey to engage with the science of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). That began in 2005, with the Scottish Violence Reduction Unit, with the two decades that have passed since then witnessing an expansion of awareness across a surprisingly broad range of sectors.

This booklet tells the story of that journey.

We learn why a dental hospital introduced trauma-informed training for its staff. We meet the mother who decided to stop shouting at her children. We hear of schools who replaced their traditional behaviour policy with a relationship policy, and we discover the documentary film that sparked an explosion of grassroots interest in ACEs in 2017.

The team at connected baby believes that the fascinating story of Scotland’s ACEs Journey deserves to be more widely known, especially in this anniversary year. That’s why we designed this booklet, and it’s why we will be hosting events, in alliance with other organisations, throughout 2025. This booklet is part of a set of resources, including a graphic video, that explore the story in depth. They are all available for free on our website.

We offer the printed version of the booklet for sale in sets of two.  We hope that anyone who wants to order a copy of the booklet will want another copy to give away to friends and colleagues.

We think everyone deserves to know the inspiring story of the many actions that have undertaken across Scotland, now that ACEs and childhood trauma are better understood by the public.
