Join us for the next on-line event in our summer series Tigers & Teddies Live! It will be chaired by Gary Robinson, wearing one of his famous bow ties, and Dr. Suzanne Zeedyk, author of the book that sparked the series, ‘Sabre Tooth Tigers & Teddy Bears: The connected baby guide to attachment’, published earlier in May 2020. This week’s topic is Boarding School Survivors..
We’ll meet Tony Gammidge, who was also with us for the Launch of the book, and whose story is told in the book. This episode will give Tony a chance to share more insights about the ways he believes his experience of boarding school left lifelong emotional wounds. He will help us to think about the large number of people in the UK who have been similarly affected by boarding school – including a large proportion of politicians currently leading the UK Westminster government. Tony will reflect on the ways in which art has helped in his recovery, including his most recent animated film, called “Norton Grim and Me”. You can watch that film on this link, if you are eager to get a head start on this conversation! https://vimeo.com/345490289
Tony will be joined by John Fulton, an art psychotherapist who worked with the NHS for many years. John will deepen our understanding of why art is a powerful medium for healing. The conversation between Tony and John will provide lots of stimulation for thinking not only about recovery from fundamental life challenges, like boarding school, but also for preventing harm in the first place. Our society needs these insights as we exit the unexpected challenge we have been facing in COVID lockdown.
We look forward to welcoming you to this fascinating conversation on the power of connection.
